It was a bit breezy out there, but we had a good time. Only 4 showed up. Ray Sullivan went 5-1 and took 1st, while Bruce Foote finished 2nd. Ray threw two four-baggers - pretty darn impressive with the unpredictable wind!

We had 9 players. Our gracious hosts from the wonderful fundraiser dinner, Connie and Rick Lockwood, joined us. Little did we know that they were going to dominate! Connie and Laura Berkley each won all 4 of their games in the round robin part. As luck would have it, Rick finished 4th, and got to partner with Connie in the finale. Mark Dopheide was 3rd and partnered with Laura. Connie and Rick threw very well and took the final contest.

Ray Sullivan defended his singles club champion title, and did so with relative ease. He went through the tournament without a loss, with his closest match being 21-10. Taking second, with a great run through the "losers" bracket, was Bruce Foote. Third place went to Al Weigel.

Congratulations to all - especially Ray, who now is our two-time singles club champion!

We had 8 players - pretty good since we were competing opposite the AZ Wildcats final four game. It helped that we had it playing on the TV at the court, although nothing could help AZ against a hot Michigan team.

In a closely contested final, Ray Sullivan and Al Weigel edged Al Geelhaar and Bob Berkley.

This was Mark Erwin's night. Mark was a perfect 4-0 in the round robin part, then teamed with Bruce Foote to edge out Al Weigel and Laura Berkley in probably our best final match of the season. Mark and Bruce got out to a 20-8 lead, when Al and Laura mounted a comeback, getting to 20-19. The turn before last, Mark had one bag left and Al had 2 more bags on the board, so if Mark had thrown it off, they would lose. He came through, not only throwing his bag on, but knocking one of Al's off, too. It came down to Bruce throwing one in the hole when it was needed, to close it out.

We had 8 folks show for our first evening drop-in of the Spring. It was very pleasant, even after a hot morning and afternoon. In the final, Al Geelhaar and Al Weigel defeated Mark Dopheide and Rick Lockwood (welcome Rick and Connie!).

We had 9 players this afternoon. Unfortunately, yours truly made a mistake in setting up/starting the tournament in the software. This meant that I had to track the points manually, and I screwed that up, too! We wound up with an "incorrect" final 4, but didn't realize it until the final was in progress. Apologies to Mark Dopheide, who should have been in the final 4.

In the "final with an asterisk", Ray and Al G won a closely contested final game against Kathy and Al W.

We had a relatively small turnout, with 5 players. Still fun, but more the merrier. In the finale, Bruce Foote and Mark Erwin edged out Al Geelhaar and Darlene Foote. The Footsies are on a roll!

Our first ever Saddlebrooke Cornhole Club Championship (teams) was a fun and successful event. 11 teams participated. We played double elimination. Bags to Riches (Ray and Mark) went undefeated through the winners bracket. Pitch Perfect (Al Weigel and Al Geelhaar) lost their first match, and worked their way through the losers bracket. They edged out Team Berkley (Laura and Bob), who took third place (bronze medal). The final was anticlimactic, as Bags to Riches dominated. They are our new Club Champions, taking the gold medal. Pitch Perfect settled for second, and a silver medal.

We had 11 players. After the initial 4 rounds, the top four in points played for bragging rights. Laura Berkley and Mark Dopheide defeated Kathy O'Connell and Al Weigel. This is Mark's 2nd straight win, but who's counting?

Note that there will be no drop-in next Saturday, 2/21, as we are holding the Pick Your Partner tournament then.

We had about 40 folks show up for a fun afternoon of cornhole fun and competition. The club provided water, soft drinks, and snacks during the first 2 hours, with lots of casual play. After the social part 11 competitors participated in a "Switcholio" tournament, where the field narrowed to the four players who were tops in points after 4 games. In the grand finale, Ray Sullivan and Bob Berkley edged the husband/wife team of VaNette and Carter Luther.

Everyone had a great time, and we're already looking forward to the next combined social/tournament event, tentatively scheduled for Saturday February 7th.

Yesterday the SBHOA2 BOD approved our club’s request to install lights at the Cornhole Facility. Now the work begins. We as a club need to fundraise for this project. Your BOD has set a goal of $6000 for this project. This is a small amount for a great club benefit.

Our Fundraising Committee will shortly advise their plans for a fundraising activity.

In the meantime, you can donate to this cause right on our website. There is a donation tab setup. Under that tab there is a fund specifically setup for the lighting project. Every little bit helps and gets us closer to our goal. There are several ways to make a donation. Remember that all donations are tax deductible as we are a non for profit club.

Every donation regardless of size gets us closer to our goal. We can begin installation once we hit our goal.
